We’re giving back.

In 2009, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3c ovarian cancer. It was everywhere – the cancer had taken over her entire abdomen. The diagnoses was a shock to us all, and a scary one to come to terms with. After a full day of surgery, however, the doctor informed us he got every inch out.

The recovery road was a long one, but after the first round of chemotherapy and treatments, my mom was declared in remission! Her white blood count was good, and the cancer seemed to be gone. This was truly a gift from God, and an unheard of success story for ovarian cancer – especially for her the stage she was in when the doctors found the disease.

But our joy was short lived. The cancer had returned, and this time there were a few spots around her abdomen. It was back to chemo, loss of appetite, loss of energy, and loss of hair.

For the remaining years of her life, my mom would continue maintenance chemo treatments. If a spot appeared, chemo it was. And it always disappeared, or in some cases, shrunk.

Until it didn’t. She passed in the summer 2016 after a hard fought battle. But she never let the disease define her. In fact, she continued to live life to the fullest, experienced new adventures, traveled the world, and volunteered in church and numerous groups. Her life is a reminder to us all to live bravely.

My mom’s life was over too soon. With so many new treatment technologies and cutting-edge solutions becoming SO CLOSE to reality, I continue to think that curing cancer is within our reach.

I’ve chosen to donate 2% of all orders to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance. there mission is:

To promote, advocate for and support scientific research as it relates to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure for ovarian cancer; to provide education about ovarian cancer; to promote, advocate for and provide supportive services to persons affected by ovarian cancer; and to foster alliances to further those purposes.

Together, we can fight this disease!
